Titanium Bars

Supplying Quality Titanium Products

Titanium is a metal of choice for many industries. As a metal, titanium can easily be formed into bars, accommodating your specific requirements regarding shape and size.

The lightweight titanium bars are available in an assortment of Grades, ranging from Grade 1, right up to Grade 12 and are supplied in various strengths, making it easier for you to choose a bar that matches your exact needs and wants.

Unlike other metals, titanium bars are durable and combine high strength with low weight. Titanium is one of the strongest metal alloys and is also lightweight and durable. Any of the titanium bars that we supply at Ti-Tek are designed to be lustrous and resistant to corrosion, providing you with a long-lasting metal.

Grades of Titanium

The Grade of titanium indicates the relation between strength and resistance. Here at Ti-Tek, we supply titanium bars in purest forms (Grades 1-4) as well as alloyed titanium. The lower grades are titanium in its purest form and these tend to be the most durable. The strength of the metal is enhanced when titanium is alloyed with other elements.

We highly recommend Grade 1 titanium bars for those who require a less ductile metal. The Grade 1 titanium offers high corrosion resistance which makes it ideal for various industrial applications.

Grade 2 and Grade 5 titanium bars are the most popular; these combine ductility with weldability and formability to provide a highly reliable metal.

Uses of the Titanium Bars

Being a strong metal, it has a wide range of uses. In addition to being relatively light, is able to retain its strength when heated to high temperatures. As compared to steel it is almost twice as strong taking into consideration the ratio of weight and density to strength while even though being heavier than aluminium it is several times stronger than the same.

Titanium bars are especially versatile. Whether it be for the aerospace, medical or chemical industry, there are several uses for the titanium bars that we stock at Ti-Tek.

Jewellery

Believe it or not, titanium bars can be used to create luxury pieces of jewellery. The high strength properties of titanium make it perfect for jewellery fasteners, creating a secure clasp or fastener that maintains a lustrous finish.

Welding

The titanium bars are considered to be reliable for welding applications, especially Grade 12 titanium! High-performance titanium is ideal for applications that require resistance to corrosion and extreme temperatures.

The Grade 12 titanium bars can also be used for shell and tube heat exchangers, offering greater resistance than titanium in its purest form.

Medical

Here at Ti-Tek, we supply titanium bars to suit some of the most diverse requirements- including those based in the medical industry. The titanium bars that we supply can be used for dental implants, surgical implants, joint and bone replacements, as well as medical equipment. The durability of the titanium bars makes them so popular in the medical industry.

Alloyed Titanium Bars

We stock titanium alloys to suit the requirements of aerospace applications. The alloyed titanium bars are made up of only the best properties. Although titanium is alloyed, it can easily be formed into bars and sustains its hard, shiny appearance.

Alloyed titanium bars are used as a result of their high strength-to-weight ratio and can be customised to suit specifications.

Here at Ti-Tek, we supply flat titanium bars in a range of lengths but if you cannot find exactly what you’re looking for, we can customise products to suit your individual needs and requirements.

Titanium Bars FAQs

Here at Ti-Tek, we provide titanium bars for various industries – including aerospace, electronics, art and architecture, sport, jewellery-making, and medical, to name just a few.

In the aerospace industry, our titanium bars are widely used in aircraft frame structures, as well as the moving parts of aircraft engines and propellers. Titanium can be alloyed with other elements (e.g. aluminium, vanadium, iron, and molybdenum) to create a strong yet lightweight metal – perfect for jet engines, missiles, and spacecraft.

The laptop industry is one of the biggest consumers of titanium bars. In fact, Apple opted to use titanium bars in the body of the PowerBook laptops!

Titanium is renowned for its durable and sleek look, making it a popular choice for sculptures and buildings. Whilst titanium bars are often used in skyscrapers, they can also provide support and stability for buildings.

The sports industry use titanium bars to manufacture equipment, such as golf clubs, bicycle frames, and tennis rackets – mostly because of their high strength to low weight density.

If you’d like to know what else titanium bars can be used for, or to discuss your requirements in more detail, call Ti-Tek on 0121 382 4121.

The price you’ll pay for titanium bars can vary depending on several factors.

Here at Ti-Tek, we understand that no two projects are the same. Whilst some industries will require grade 2 titanium bars in long lengths, others will need grade 5 bars in shorter lengths or vice versa.

Much like anything else, the more titanium you need, the more you will pay. However, we pride ourselves on offering competitive prices and will always offer a tailored solution to suit your specific requirements.

Yes – although titanium is inherently strong – even in its purest form –Ti-Tek has the necessary skills and equipment to cut titanium bars to the correct size.

Whilst titanium alloys present greater difficulties, we employ a number of techniques and methods to cut titanium bars, including:

  • Mechanical cutting
  • Bandsawing
  • Water jet cutting
  • Plasma cutting

To ensure maximum safety and efficiency, we use low cutting speeds to cut titanium bars, as excessive cutting speeds can reduce tool life by as much as 80% and cause heat to build up.

Aluminium used to be the go-to metal when it came to building aircraft. But, in recent years, titanium has taken over and is now more widely used. Due to its exceptional heat and corrosion resistance, titanium bars can be used to produce the fastening components, landing gears and the framework of planes.

Titanium also has the ability to maintain this level of resistance when coming into contact with carbon-fibre-reinforced polymers (CFRPs), which are also commonly used in aircraft construction, ensuring the aircraft runs in a safe and reliable way.

Jewellery makers have been using titanium bars to craft everything from bracelets to rings for years. Not only is the metal super-strong, but it’s also scratch resistant and works well with other additions, like diamonds and precious stones.

For example, when rings are crafted from titanium bars, the part of the ring that houses the stone is often far more supportive and rugged than rings made from other materials, reducing the chance of the stone becoming dislodged and falling out. Titanium also looks great and maintains a stellar sheen, making it the perfect choice for making jewellery.
